Country Director – Chad

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a Country Director to lead its operations in Chad. Based in N'Djamena, you will oversee a growing programme that supports refugees, asylum‑seekers, internally displaced persons and returnees across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the political and humanitarian context and adapt NRC programmes to ensure relevance and impact.
• Provide strategic direction, drive effective programme delivery and represent NRC in inter‑agency coordination.
• Lead resource mobilisation, advocacy and partnership building at national and regional levels.
• Motivate, coach and manage staff, fostering a high‑performing Country Management Group.
• Ensure compliance with humanitarian principles, safeguarding standards and organisational policies.
• Contribute to regional management groups and collaborate with other country offices on the Chad refugee response.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior leadership within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to manage large, multi‑donor programmes and complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong analytical skills and capacity to adapt strategies to evolving contexts.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethics, accountability and safeguarding.
