Automation & Control Systems Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Automation & Control Systems Supervisor to lead the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of automation and communication systems in oil and gas production facilities. The role ensures the reliability, availability and integrity of control systems while supporting safe and efficient field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of automation, communication and control systems across production facilities.
• Ensure reliable performance of DCS, PLC, RTU, Safety Shutdown Systems (SSS), fiber optic networks, CCTV and communication infrastructure.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
• Monitor, configure and optimise DCS parameters and instrument performance.
• Investigate failures, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Perform periodic backups of control system databases and configurations.
• Manage spare parts inventory and material requisitions.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and system records.
• Develop and deliver technical training for operators and maintenance personnel.
• Identify safety risks related to automation systems and support emergency response.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to ensure continuous production.
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to the System Foreman and support staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of oil and gas industry experience, with at least 4 years in automation and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, RTU, SSS, SCADA and industrial communication networks.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in industrial automation environments.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Physically fit and willing to work in field environments (≈30% field‑based work).
