Country Director – Chad

About the role

The HIAS Country Director in Chad leads the organization’s operations, overseeing protection services for refugees and host communities. This senior position provides strategic vision, ensures program alignment with HIAS policies, and serves as the public face of HIAS in Chad.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HIAS Chad’s strategy, ensuring programs are delivered on time, on budget, and meet donor and quality standards.
• Represent HIAS with UN agencies, EU bodies, government authorities, donors, and NGOs, and support advocacy and communications efforts.
• Manage and build the capacity of staff, establishing structures, performance measures, and a positive work environment.
• Oversee financial operations, reporting, audits, cash flow, and compliance with legal and donor requirements.
• Ensure safeguarding, accountability, and protection standards are met, including training on HIAS policies.
• Maintain safety and security of personnel and assets, monitoring the security environment and implementing relevant procedures.

Required profile

• Graduate degree and 10‑15 years of NGO/humanitarian experience, with at least 7 years managing large teams and country programs.
• Fluency in English and French, ability to travel throughout Chad and internationally, and a strong commitment to refugee protection.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with budget and accounting software.
