Educational Support Teacher – English L2 (M/F)

About the role

The Educational Support Teacher for English L2 will work within the European Schools to support pupils who require additional educational assistance. The role focuses on delivering differentiated instruction, assessing needs, and collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure inclusive learning for students with diverse abilities.

Key responsibilities

• Work directly with pupils who have learning, emotional, behavioural or physical needs, providing tailored English L2 support.
• Apply differentiated teaching methods and adapt teaching materials to meet individual learning strategies.
• Conduct detailed observations and assessments, assisting class and subject teachers in early identification of support needs.
• Decide on appropriate teaching strategies in consultation with teachers and other professionals.
• Liaise with the Support Coordinator and cooperate with classroom teachers throughout the learning process.
• Advise teachers on learning profiles and innovative approaches for special‑needs education.
• Evaluate pupil progress and adjust interventions as required.
• Participate in meetings, trainings and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Native English speaker or C1/C2 certified proficiency.
• Knowledge of a second working language (French or German) is an advantage.
• University degree recognised for teaching in the primary cycle.
• Qualification and experience in educational support, inclusive education or special‑needs teaching.
• Understanding of inclusive education principles and strategies for learners with difficulties.
• Ability to adapt conventional teaching methods and develop specialised resources.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and planning abilities.
• Motivation to work in a multicultural, multilingual environment.

• Fixed‑term contract for one academic year (1 Sept 2026 – 31 Aug 2027), 10‑15 hours per week.
