Media and Communications Officer (P)

About the role

The Media and Communications Officer will support the Programme Support Unit and the Chief of Mission in delivering IOM Chad’s internal and external communication strategies. The role focuses on shaping an accurate narrative about IOM’s migration programmes for media, donors, UN partners and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of IOM Chad’s communication plans in line with organisational guidelines and donor requirements.
• Prepare and disseminate press releases, briefing notes, newsletters and other media materials.
• Maintain relationships with local and international journalists, arrange interviews and organise press events.
• Monitor, analyse and report on media coverage related to migration and IOM activities.
• Support the production of content for IOM’s website and social‑media channels.
• Coordinate with UN agencies, donors and other partners to ensure consistent messaging.
• Maintain communication archives and ensure compliance with branding standards.

Required profile

• University degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.
• Relevant experience in media relations and public information, preferably in an international or humanitarian context.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adhere to UN procurement and communication guidelines.
• Open to candidates from first‑tier (internal and under‑represented member states) and second‑tier pools, with emphasis on gender balance.
