Security Associate, G6, Mongo, Chad

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting a Security Associate (G6) for its field office in Mongo, Chad. The post reports to the office head or the security officer and involves managing a small support team responsible for security, coordinating with local authorities and ensuring the safety of staff, facilities and operations. The position is autonomous and requires quick adaptation to unexpected situations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse threats and risks, and produce accurate reports on issues affecting WFP operations
• Use institutional and local tools to analyse security information and share it with stakeholders
• Coordinate with local authorities, communities, UN and NGO security personnel and other actors to protect access to populations
• Plan and coordinate field missions and evaluate security risks, and review mission reports to recommend risk mitigation
• Advise the country director on security risk management under the UN Security Management System and help implement operational security standards
• Maintain security equipment and ensure access control procedures are applied strictly
• Improve emergency planning documents and deliver security training to staff
• Supervise and train other staff members

Required profile

• At least six years of experience in security
• Secondary education completed and a post-secondary certificate in security
• Specialised knowledge of practical methods, techniques and procedures used in security, acquired through technical training and professional experience
• Experience giving technical advice and training staff, and supporting data collection for security reports
• Knowledge of logistics, security administration, risk assessment and coordination with local law enforcement
• Fire intervention and evacuation procedures, calmness in emergencies, attention to detail and ability to interpret information
