Grid Expert – Chad

About the role

The client is seeking a Grid Expert to support the implementation of the national Energy Compact, focusing on grid integration of new renewable generation, transmission system strengthening, and infrastructure planning. The role supports the CDMU and High‑Level Committee by ensuring system stability, technical feasibility of generation projects, and alignment of network development with compact targets.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate network and infrastructure planning studies and lead the development of a comprehensive least‑cost electricity development plan.
• Conduct feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and electrical network simulations, modelling, dimensioning, and stability analysis.
• Support implementation of network reinforcement projects, monitor execution, perform technical assessments and audits, and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Prepare technical specifications for tender documents and assist in evaluating technical bids.
• Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for network infrastructure development and provide technical support to the High‑Level Committee, contributing to progress reports and advisory notes.

Required profile

• Electrical Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in network modelling, stability studies, and grid connection of power plants of 50 MWp or larger.
• Proven involvement in integration studies for at least three power‑plant projects and experience preparing tender documentation for high‑voltage transmission lines and substations.
• Experience on projects valued at US$1 million or more, preferably in Africa or similar operating environments.
• Fluency in French and a good command of English.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical reporting skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with government institutions and utilities.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in grid modelling and simulation software.
• Strong understanding of transmission system planning, high‑voltage substations, and grid‑code compliance.
• Experience with feasibility study tools and electrical network design calculations.
