Head of Mission – Humanitarian & Development

About the role

Plan International Chad is seeking an experienced, values‑driven Head of Mission to lead its humanitarian, development and advocacy portfolio. The role will shape strategic direction, ensure high‑quality programme delivery and represent the organisation with key stakeholders across Chad.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for all country programmes, ensuring impact, accountability and alignment with children’s rights and gender equality objectives.
• Set and implement strategic plans, oversee programme quality, financial stewardship and risk management.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing multidisciplinary team.
• Strengthen partnerships with government authorities, donors, UN agencies, NGOs and community organisations.
• Secure sustainable funding and drive advocacy to position Plan International as a leading voice for children and girls.
• Oversee safety, security, safeguarding and organisational effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in West or Central Africa.
• Strong understanding of child protection, gender equality and crisis response.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex programmes and budgets.
• Excellent external representation skills with donors, governments and multilateral partners.
