Junior Geologist – Gold Exploration & Mining (FIFO)

About the role

Our client is developing a large‑scale gold exploration and mining project in a remote operating environment in Chad and is seeking a motivated Junior Geologist to join its growing technical team. The role provides hands‑on exposure to both exploration and resource development across alluvial and hard‑rock gold systems, including drilling programmes, geological logging, sampling, mapping, database management, QA/QC and resource evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct RC (Reverse Circulation) and Diamond Core logging, interpreting lithology, alteration, mineralisation, weathering and structures.
• Assist with geological, field, outcrop, trench and pit mapping activities.
• Support drilling programmes through rig supervision, sample management and geological data collection.
• Maintain accurate geological records, logging sheets, sampling information and field documentation.
• Manage geological databases, validate assays and enter data.
• Support QA/QC programmes, including insertion, monitoring and reconciliation of standards, blanks and duplicates.
• Participate in geological interpretation, target generation and exploration reporting.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in mineral exploration, mining geology or resource development, preferably on gold projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline; professional registration is a plus.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards, high attention to detail and ability to work in remote, multicultural teams.

Required skills

• RC and Diamond Core geological logging.
• Understanding of hard‑rock and alluvial gold mineralisation systems.
• Exploration and mining geology, sampling methodologies and data collection.
• Geological database management and data entry.
• QA/QC protocol implementation.
• GIS software (ArcGIS or QGIS) – advantageous.
• Field mapping and geological interpretation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for technical reporting.
