Project Director – Child Survival Programs

About the role

Nutrition International is seeking a Project Director to lead its Child Survival programming in Chad, supporting the Ministry of Health with vitamin A supplementation and zinc/ORS distribution. The role involves overseeing program delivery, external relations, and country operations for a two‑year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Nutrition International’s representation in Chad, building strong relationships with government, donors, UN agencies, NGOs, private sector, academia and communities.
• Manage program delivery, ensuring achievement of results, quality, and disbursement targets within timelines.
• Oversee partner and sub‑contractor performance, negotiate corrective actions and assess value for money.
• Monitor progress against workplans, prepare reports for donors and stakeholders, and convene programme review meetings.
• Ensure gender equality is mainstreamed in vitamin A programming in line with the organization’s global strategy.
• Guide financial management, budgeting, forecasting and value‑for‑money reporting.
• Lead and develop a country team of senior programme officers and a project officer.
• Act as the primary focal point for Nutrition International’s Child Survival programming, engaging senior government officials and ensuring visibility of the organization’s support.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in management, international development, public health, nutrition or related field; postgraduate certification in project management desirable.
• At least 10 years of experience managing public health or nutrition programmes, with complex budgets and diverse teams.
• Minimum 5 years of high‑level networking with international partners and government, and at least 5 years working in Chad.
• Previous experience as a Country Manager or Director in an international NGO is highly desirable.
• Fluent in English and French; knowledge of local Chad languages is an asset.
