Head of Programme

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a senior leader to head its programme operations in Chad. Reporting directly to the Country Director, the Head of Programme will drive the implementation of DRC’s strategic objectives, ensuring high‑quality humanitarian assistance across all sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the programme within the Senior Management Team and coordinate the country‑wide sectoral strategy.
• Provide technical quality support and oversight for all operations, ensuring compliance with DRC standards and best practices.
• Lead line management, performance monitoring, and staff development for programme teams.
• Develop and enforce policies, processes, and standards across protection and other sectors.
• Play a lead role in fundraising activities, donor reporting, and external representation.
• Represent DRC in cluster meetings and ensure technical quality assurance across protection sectors.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior programme management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to design and implement strategic plans and coordinate multi‑sectoral programmes.
• Strong leadership and team‑development skills, with experience managing diverse staff.
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor relations, and external advocacy.
• Excellent understanding of humanitarian principles, protection standards, and coordination mechanisms.
