National Programme Officer – Emergency

About the role

The Emergency Officer will support WFP Chad’s emergency preparedness, response, and strategic transition agenda in a complex humanitarian environment. The role focuses on planning, coordination and analysis to ensure timely assistance to displaced populations, climate‑affected communities and refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and updating emergency preparedness plans and response strategies.
• Coordinate emergency response activities across the Country Office and Field Offices.
• Conduct operational analysis to inform resource allocation and programme adjustments.
• Engage with partners, including government, NGOs and UN agencies, to strengthen coordination mechanisms.
• Support the transition from status‑based assistance to a vulnerability‑driven approach.

Required profile

• Chadian nationality.
• Relevant university degree or equivalent experience in humanitarian assistance, disaster management or related fields.
• Experience working in emergency or development programmes, preferably in a multi‑partner environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
