Senior Assessment Officer – N'Djamena, Chad

About the role

The Senior Assessment Officer will join the REACH research unit in N'Djamena, Chad, to lead and coordinate humanitarian needs and situation assessments. Reporting to the Research Manager, the role covers the full assessment cycle, from data collection planning to analysis and reporting, supporting evidence‑based decision‑making for humanitarian actors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive assessment missions, including household surveys and rapid assessments.
• Coordinate data collection teams, ensure data quality and compliance with ethical standards.
• Analyse satellite imagery and GIS data to complement field findings.
• Produce detailed assessment reports, maps and data visualisations for partners and donors.
• Maintain the REACH database and contribute to the development of assessment tools and methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance to local staff and partners and ensure timely dissemination of results.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in humanitarian or development assessments, preferably in the Sahel region.
• Strong understanding of the socio‑economic and climatic context of Chad.
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently in a challenging security environment.
