Senior Project Associate – Immigration & Border Governance

About the role

The Senior Project Associate will support the implementation of the Immigration & Border Governance (IBG) portfolio in Chad, working under the Head of Programmes and Programme Coordinator. The role involves coordinating border management information systems, legal identity projects, counter‑smuggling activities and community policing initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of IBG portfolio activities in Chad.
• Compile, analyse and present data on project topics, highlighting issues for decision‑makers.
• Monitor budget implementation, propose adjustments and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
• Act as focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with internal units and external partners to obtain clearances and follow‑up actions.
• Draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics and statistical tables.
• Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops and training sessions, including preparation of training materials.
• Maintain liaison with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and other stakeholders.
• Monitor implementing partners’ work and report non‑compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related field, with at least four years relevant experience (or high school diploma with six years experience).
• Experience supporting immigration and border governance interventions and liaising with governmental and UN bodies.
• Background working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, trafficking victims or other vulnerable groups.
• Prior experience with international humanitarian organisations in a multicultural setting is an advantage.
