Emergency Coordinator

About the role

The Emergency Coordinator will lead the design, planning and implementation of anticipatory action, emergency response and recovery programmes for the Chad Business Management Unit. Working within a dynamic team, the role ensures high‑quality interventions that serve the poor and vulnerable while maintaining staff safety and security.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, strategise and oversee all emergency response and recovery activities in line with CRS quality standards, donor requirements and national/international guidelines.
• Supervise and coach a multidisciplinary team, manage talent, conduct performance reviews and promote staff well‑being.
• Lead MEAL processes, conduct programme reviews, document lessons learned and integrate findings into future programming.
• Represent CRS with donors, UN agencies, NGOs and local authorities to coordinate efforts, share information and develop partnerships.
• Serve as technical lead for emergency proposals, contributing to budgeting, staffing plans and partner identification.
• Identify capacity‑building needs for staff and local partners, design curricula and deliver training sessions.
• Ensure timely and appropriate financial management and stewardship of project resources.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of emergency guidelines and standards.
• Proven experience implementing market‑based approaches in humanitarian emergencies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, coach staff and handle talent development.
• Excellent coordination skills with donors, UN bodies, NGOs and local authorities.
• Experience in proposal development, budgeting and strategic planning for emergency programmes.
