Physical AI Lead

About the role

ABB Robotics is building the global leader in Physical AI – intelligent robotic systems that combine AI, software and automation to solve industrial challenges. The Physical AI Lead will shape the vision, strategy and delivery of the AVR/Physical AI portfolio, driving both technology and organization growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall Physical AI strategy aligned with long‑term business goals.
• Build and scale a multidisciplinary team across AI, software and robotics, establishing new operating models.
• Lead the architectural direction for AI‑powered robotic systems across embedded, edge and cloud environments.
• Deliver production‑grade AI robotics solutions for industrial customers, ensuring safety, quality and scalability.
• Collaborate with the CTO and senior leadership to translate strategy into execution and represent ABB Robotics with customers, partners and the broader AI/robotics ecosystem.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
• 10–15+ years of experience in software, AI or robotics.
• Proven track record of building and scaling high‑performing AI or software organisations.
• Strong leadership and change‑management capabilities.
