Area Programme Manager – Chad (Iriba)

About the role

The Area Programme Manager (APM) will oversee the implementation of NRC’s multi‑sectoral programmes in Iriba, Chad, and represent the organisation in coordination forums. Reporting to the Area Manager with a dotted line to the Head of Programme, the APM ensures integrated, high‑quality humanitarian response.

Key responsibilities

• Lead line‑management for directly reporting staff, including performance management, recruitment, induction and staff development.
• Provide technical oversight of core competencies (Shelter/NFI, WASH, Education, ICLA, Livelihoods, Food Security) through project cycle management, monitoring, evaluation and needs assessments.
• Ensure compliance with donor standards, grant management, reporting and financial audit requirements, and contribute to financing strategy.
• Liaise with local and national authorities, humanitarian access bodies (CNARR, ONAPE) and represent NRC in coordination forums.
• Promote the rights of IDPs and returnees and lead advocacy in line with NRC’s strategy.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years senior‑level project implementation experience in humanitarian or recovery contexts, preferably in complex and volatile settings.
• Master’s degree in social/economic sciences, development or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years relevant experience.
• Fluency in French (written and spoken) and good working proficiency in English.
• Knowledge of the eastern Chad/Sudan refugee response context and donor regulations (ECHO, NORAD, SDC, BHA) is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to manage performance, empower teams and operate in insecure environments.
