Area Programme Manager – Iriba, Chad

About the role

The Area Programme Manager will oversee the implementation of multi‑sectoral programmes in Iriba, Chad, supporting refugees and internally displaced persons. Reporting to the Area Manager and dotted‑line to the Head of Programme, the role ensures high‑quality, coordinated humanitarian response.

Key responsibilities

• Provide line‑management for directly reporting staff, including performance management, recruitment, induction and duty of care.
• Support integrated programming across core competencies, ensuring robust project cycle management, monitoring, evaluation and technical oversight of assessments.
• Ensure compliance with donor standards, grant management, regular reporting and contribute to financing strategy and forecasting.
• Liaise with local and national authorities, humanitarian access bodies and coordination forums to secure movement and programme authorisations.
• Promote the rights of IDPs and returnees in line with NRC advocacy strategy and represent the organisation in coordination meetings.
• Maintain adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures, and manage resources to optimise results.

Required profile

• Minimum three years senior‑level project implementation experience in humanitarian or recovery contexts.
• Proven experience working in complex, volatile environments and emergency response.
• Strong knowledge of market analysis, cash‑based interventions and donor regulations (ECHO, NORAD, SDC, BHA).
• Fluency in French (written and spoken) and good working proficiency in English.
• Master’s degree in social/economic sciences or related field, or Bachelor’s with at least five years relevant experience.
• Ability to lead, think strategically and manage performance in insecure settings.
