DCS Technician – IT Hardware Operations

About the role

Smith is looking for a DCS Technician to support both inbound and outbound IT hardware operations. You will handle receiving, inspecting, testing, repairing and cataloguing a variety of electronic components, servers and networking equipment while ensuring data is securely erased.

Key responsibilities

• Stage, organize and process purchase order materials.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair and catalog servers, workstations, network gear and spare parts.
• Securely erase customer data and reset devices to factory specifications.
• Update purchase‑order status and meet project deadlines.
• Generate reports and provide status updates to Operations management.
• Suggest process and technical improvements.
• Maintain ESD, quality, safety, environmental and recycling standards.
• Assist other departments and the Operations team as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting and repairing IT hardware (Dell, HP, Cisco).
• One or more certifications such as CNA, CCNA, A+, MCSA, MTA, Server+ or Network+.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and self‑motivation.
• Team‑player attitude and willingness to work overtime.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb.

Required skills

• Assembling and repairing servers, workstations and network equipment.
• Hardware testing and troubleshooting.
• Data erasure and device reset.
• Electrostatic discharge (ESD) handling.
• Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (Access experience a plus).
• Relevant certifications (CNA, CCNA, A+, MCSA, MTA, Server+, Network+).
