Humanitarian Access & Security Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Humanitarian Access & Security Coordinator (HASC) for its Chad operations. The HASC will ensure that IRC’s security policies are adapted to the local context, advise on humanitarian access, analyse security trends and lead a team of security professionals to protect staff and beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a country‑wide humanitarian access strategy and framework.
• Support Security Focal Points (SFP) and program teams in designing operational plans for new projects, including actor mapping and engagement strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, non‑state armed actors and other power‑brokers to facilitate safe access.
• Monitor, analyse and report on security trends, providing timely advice to senior management.
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of security professionals, ensuring compliance with IRC security standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian security, access coordination or related fields.
• Strong understanding of the security and political environment in Chad.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government and non‑state actors.
• Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills.
