Area Programme Manager – Iriba, Chad

About the role

The Area Programme Manager will oversee the implementation of multi‑sectoral programmes in Iriba, Chad, supporting refugees and IDPs while representing NRC in coordination forums. The role reports to the Area Manager and has a dotted line to the Head of Programme.

Key responsibilities

• Lead line‑management for staff, including performance management, recruitment, induction and duty of care.
• Ensure technical quality and coordination across core competencies (Shelter, WASH, Education, ICLA, Livelihoods, Food Security) and oversee project cycle management, monitoring and evaluation.
• Maintain compliance with donor standards, manage grant reporting and contribute to financing strategy.
• Liaise with local and national authorities, humanitarian access bodies and represent NRC in coordination forums.
• Promote the rights of IDPs and returnees in line with NRC’s advocacy strategy.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years senior‑level project implementation experience in humanitarian or recovery contexts.
• Master’s degree in social/economic sciences, development or related field (or Bachelor’s with at least 5 years relevant experience).
• Fluent in French (written and spoken) and good working proficiency in English.
• Knowledge of the eastern Chad/Sudan refugee response context and donor regulations (ECHO, NORAD, SDC, BHA).
