Chief Social Policy – Stretch Assignment (P-4) in N'Djamena

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an experienced staff member to take on a four‑month stretch assignment as Chief Social Policy (P‑4) in N’Djamena, Chad. The role ensures continuity of leadership for the Social Policy Section while supporting the country’s social inclusion programme.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Social Policy Section, overseeing social protection, public finance for children and local governance initiatives.
• Guide the development and implementation of policies, strategies and programmes aligned with the 2024‑2026 country programme and national development plans.
• Coordinate with government ministries, partners and UNICEF teams to strengthen institutional frameworks and capacity at national and decentralized levels.
• Monitor progress towards SDG targets, ensuring evidence‑based decision‑making and reporting.
• Support the Section’s multidisciplinary team in delivering results within the four‑month assignment period.

Required profile

• UNICEF staff at Fixed‑Term, Permanent or continuing appointment, currently serving at any level worldwide.
• Relevant experience in social policy, social protection, public finance for children or local governance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, crisis‑affected environments.
• Strong analytical and coordination skills, with a focus on results and partnership building.
